QP 3.6.4 fix for OS 5.0.0.252+ does NOT WORK on OS 5.0.0.337 Curve 8530
QP 3.6.4 fix for OS 5.0.0.252+ does NOT WORK on Curve 8530 using OS 5.0.0.337 - I followed all the steps although there are subltle differences such as a Dialog Box pops up when you Edit Permissions to "Deny" (right after step 4) asking if you want to Rebbot Now or Later for which I rebooted now. The instructions are not clear in this area as to choosing "Rebbot Now" or "Reboot Later". So.. The device reboots and I go back in and change permissions back to "Allow" only this time the above mentioned dialog box does NOT appear so I then proceed to do a real battery pull. Once the phone reboots I go to my downloads folder, click on the app and it doesnt even launch. No errors, no freezing, nothing. I also tried clicking on reboot later, proceeding to next steps and still the same problem. I noticed under options --> applications that there is not only the QuickPull V3.6.4 but QuickPullLib v3.6.3 - is this correct ? Has the fix been tested on OS 5.0.0.337 ?? HELP !!!!!

Inappropriate?Hi there,
Sorry for the delay in response. Unfortunately, QuickPull is not supported by Curve 8530. For a list of devices that are compatible with our applications, please see the link below. I am very sorry for your frustration and sadness.

I’m happy to know the answer, but sad too.

I think it's time someone gets their self moving, I would also like to purchase IntelliLaunch also, but I see it isn't available for the 8530 either. sure would appreciate some new help with this or these problems! -
Inappropriate?Any plans on getting a version that will work on the Blackberry 8530? I had a 8330 and liked your product. Hope you can get an upgrade that will work on my new phone.

Inappropriate?Hi Winston,
I will pass your comments along to our developer, but I don't know if or when QuickPull Pro will be compatible with the Curve 8530. -
Maybe you could remove the 8530 from the compatibilty list on the download page! >:[ -
that, and remove it from appworld. I just bought QPP from appworld on my 8530. If it's incompatible, it should NOT be available to purchase and download. -
I just got a BB 8530 and I installed Quick Pull and it worked fine until I had to hard reset for some odd reason and now it wont work. -

Inappropriate?Hi there,
We recently updated that page because QuickPull is now compatible with the 8530. You should be able to download the appropriate version at the following links:
OS 5 users:
http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
Non-OS 5 users:

Hope this brightens your day! Please let me know if you have any further questions or issues.
I’m happy about solutions

Inappropriate?BlackBerry 8530, v5.0.0.395 on the Sprint network
When trying the QuickPull icon after succesfull installation from http://tinyurl.com/ykwgnkk on 02/01/10:
Application terminated: QuickPull has been denied the "Cross Application Communication" permission.
After battery pull, three alerts appear:
Application terminated: sm21_rim_client_plugin has been denied the "Cross Application Communication" permission.
Application terminated: QuickPullMonitor has been denied the "Cross Application Communication" permission.
Application terminated: QuickPullAutoStart has been denied the "Cross Application Communication" permission.
Still no QuickPull. This is a great application for those of us with hard cases. Hope it works out. We appreciate all your hard work.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I solved this as a problem. I returned my 8530. Problem solved. Count use the tiny keys on that keyboard anyway. I as tired of asking does that work with the 8530. Even the Supra Software I bought the phone specifically to work with was not supported. -NeoLudite.
It would be appropriate for Steeltorn to take this off the compatibility list!
I’m not amused

Inappropriate?Hi all. We're still checking in to these problems on the 85xx series. It seems a certain range of operating systems have some strange issues on this handset.
However, if you see any permissions errors, these are most likely not specific to the 85xx. Check out this article for more info on QuickPull permissions:

Inappropriate?I also can't open at all. It doesn't matter if I set permissions first or later. Doesn't matter if I deny, save, then allow. It won't open at all. Very frustrating for such a great product to not really be compatible! I got it fixed on my Tour OS 5, hope a fix is coming very soon for 8530.
I’m about to pull my hair out!

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem and was excited to see a fix and then my hopes were smashed. I really hope they get this fix i use quickpull all the time especially at night i scheduled mine to do a reset every night at midnight.
-
Inappropriate?I am able to now open the application and schedule resets. Here is the latest problem. An error occurred while starting QuickPullLib. The application has been terminated. If I try and do a reset again the application permission for Quickpull comes up asking for permission. I set it to yes and I even have all permission to allow. I select yes and it stays on the screen your device is going to reboot in 5 seconds. i hit escape and it gives me the Somthing went wrong. Aborting. See device log for more details. What do I need to do from here. I have the 8530 w/ OS 5.0.0.337. Semms alot of the bug are fixed as I couldn't even open the app before.

Inappropriate?Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the update. We are still trudging through the 8530 issue with RIM. Can you grab the logs from your device after attempting a QuickPull and paste them here? This faq describes how to access them:

Thanks
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Yeah well it is not confined to the 85XX. I have the Storm and get the same messages. I deleted QP and do a manual pull.
-
I agree, Rich.
It appears to be OS-related rather than device-related. I had no problems using the latest version of QP on OS 4.6+ on my 8320, but the upgrade to the 9700 w/ OS 5.0.0.332 is apparently more than QP can do.
I'm really bummed - a regular (daily) battery pull is so beneficial to RIM products and their usage, but I can rarely remember to do a physical battery-pull. QP and its scheduling ability took care of that for me - at least, while I was using the 8320. I hope this bubbles up to the top of ST's priority list, as the 85xx and 97xx series are going to become very popular, very quickly. -
Inappropriate?Hasnt anyone noticed that I reported this issue 4 months ago and yet the company hasnt resolved it yet ? Its time to look somewhere else cause I give up.
I’m sad
-
I have the paid version and still cant use it, if they do this to all there paid customers they will make out pretty good! -
Inappropriate?Sue, I hate to repeat myself but this has been reported to ST going on 5 months now, I have little faith they are going to fix it given the time they had to work on it. Lets face it, the new Curve 8520/8530 apart from the WiFi and the higher OS, is a plastic plece of crap unworthy of being called an upgrade to the CLASSIC GREAT 8330. I am very sorry I switched and am waiting for Verizon to come out with the BOLD or something along those lines. I am very updet at the fact that this thread I spawned 5 months ago has yet to be resolved but such is life. Steelthorn has made it obvious that this is not a priority. I have resorted to other methods in the meantime and with luck Verizon will get the iPhone later this year or early next.
