Does not work on my Storm with 5.02.328. Same problem as before, without hanging up. It just aborts.

Inappropriate?Hi Nick,
The "abort" message usually means you did not edit the ***default**** permissions per the FAQ here: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
Also, there is quite of bit of information in this thread will users using QuickPull with OS 5 successfully: http://feedback.steelthorn.com/steelt...

Nick, can't change all three Permissions to Allow. "Interactions" will not budge from Custom. When you expand the category, Security Timer Reset is grayed out, which doesn't allow for the Allow. Any suggestions? -
I have the same problem. Even after purchasing the application for a second time thinking that I had done something wrong. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. -
Nothing in the FAQ mentioned in your response Joey has worked for me. I am running a Verizon Storm (9530) with OS v5.0.0.328 and I do not have any Enterprise settings of any kind. I am currently running QuickPull Pro v3.5.4. QuickPull Pro worked fine BEFORE the OS upgrade. I recommend that you change the status of this question from ANSWERED back to UNANSWERED. We still need an answer. Thanks -
Joey, perhaps I was a little hasty...after doing a few more searches I found the answer in the SteelThorn FAQ (which happens to be the one you cited in your answer...which I accidentally skipped over...many apologies). I invite anyone having a difficulty with QuickPull (lite or Pro) to read the solution found at: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
It appears to be working for my Storm 9530 running OS v5.0.0.328. NOTE you must follow the instructions to the letter. -
Inappropriate?Still doesn't work with my Storm either after following th the FAQ above to a T.
All permissions are now set to Allow and I did a battery pull hard reset. New program states "Your device is going into reboot in 5 seconds. Press ESCAPE to cancel." Then "Application Permissions" pops up and asked "Would you like to grant QuickPullLib Trusted Application Status?" Then it says "Something went wrong. Aborting. See device log for more details. Any suggestions for this.

Inappropriate? As to 3.6.0 - I set them to accept the settings AS the default settings, and, eventually, it did a reboot - shut off my network connections the first time, but now seems to be working,
-
Inappropriate?Nick, are you referring to a new version of QuickPull Pro. You mentioned 3.6.0 but the latest version available from CrackBerry, com is v3.5.4. If there is a new version where did you get it? Thanks
I’m very frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Never mind Nick, I found the QuickPull Pro v3.6.0 you mentioned by reading the SteelThorn FAQ at http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
I’m happy because QuickPull working again!
-
Inappropriate?I followed the instructions to a T also and still can not get mine to work. D/L version 3.6.0 Free and have BB Verizon 5.0.0.328. All Permissions are Set to ALLOW. Pull the battery and here is what happens when I click RESET. Your device is going to Reboot in 5 Seconds....then Application Permissions show up asking if I would like to grant QuickPullLib Trusted Application Status. I say Yes and it goes back to Your Device is Going into REBOOT in 5 Seconds and nothing happens. Hit the Escape key and it says Something went wrong. Aborting. See Device Log for More Details. Click on OK. That's it. What went wrong??? Help please.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Man...I just love it! So, here is what I did that made it successful for me this time. Before you actually download the app....put a checkmark it Set Permissions before the download. Then set them all to ALLOW. Then download. Then follow the rest of the instructions....go to Options > Applications. Permissions should already be set to ALLOW on all of them, but check it to make sure. Then click on Set as Defaults. Go back in check it again...hit Menu to Save. Then Pull the Battery. Your good to go. Works like a champ now for me. If your still having problems. DELETE the app and start over again. It does work. Sorry Nick......:)
I’m cranky...it's late...lol
-
Awesome. It finally works but you have to do what you say and everything you say to a T. You should get a consulting fee from Quick Pull for this.. Thanks. -
I was very hopeful that this workaround would work for me as I have the same issue as Gary but it was not to be. I did follow your directions very carefully but still ended up with the "will reboot in 5 secs" and after 10, I hit escape to find that it still did not work. I'm using the QuickPull Free and have BB OS 5.0.0.328 as well. I'll keep checking to see how this is corrected. Thank you! -
These directions DO work if your Storm does not have an IT policy in place on it. Donald, is your Storm provided by your workplace? If so, odds are very strong that it has an IT policy in place prohibiting you from following the directions 100% (not your fault). You'll need to talk to your IT department at work.
If it is not provided by work and you're 100% positive that there is no IT policy in place, these instructions WILL work but you must follow them exactly as written. I blazed through them the first time and it didn't work... -
Dear johnalan2
Thank you for your suggestion. Will again attempt this following the directions as carefully as possible! However, now when I attempt to install from the link http://tinyurl.com/ykwgnkk (QuickPull Free) I am getting the following error message: HTTP Error 404 Not Found.
I am 100% sure that I do not have an IT policy associated with his device. -
Gary...I actually do IT work. Am I desktop/network support geru and out of work....maybe they can hire me on....:)
Donald....delete QP and pull the battery....if it doesn't already say that it's going to reboot after you delete QP from Options > Applications. Then go back and follow my instructions again. Looks like I MAY have to make a presentation with pictures to post...(Then I'm asking for a fee....J/K Joey). It should work if you follow the instructions. As for the D/L link....it's working.
Again, let me reemphasize to everyone....IF you have a Company Blackberry, they may have policies set in place that will not allow you to change permissions. If this is the case...don't bother with trying QP, till you talk with your IT guy/gal at work first, to see if they will help you out and change those permissions...if they can. Good luck and it really does work if you sit down relax...have a COLD one and then do the install per the instructions. I'll be here to respond if you need some help. Thanks. -
Dear Todd,
I'm wondering if the problem I am having is due to the fact that I was using QuickPull Free rather than QuickPull Pro, I would be happy to upgrade as the support here is excellent! In installing the free version, I am not presented with the option of editing *Default* permissions. I am only oresented with editing *Permission*. If this is indeed the case I will gladly upgrade. I did notice a post from Aimee that suggested that the Edit Default tab was "below" the Edit Permissions tab but I cannot locate this on the free verrsion. -
This worked. I followed the directions to the letter. Thank You -
Inappropriate?I too have followed the instructions to a T. But don't kid yourself about it working. After spending the money on the Pro version, and upgrading to OS 5, I also cannot use QuickPull. I am on a BES, and not able to set all permissions to ALLOW. One, "Security Timer Reset" is greyed out to Deny. I have done everything suggested on this site, including updating to 3.6. Very frustrating. And no resolution seems to be in sight.
I’m frustrated and angry
-
Inappropriate? This is because your BES Admin has permissions set that you can not change. You need to contact your BES Admin to explain to them that you are trying to install this software and it needs it's permissions set to ALLOW. It's in your company's hands and not the manufacturer of the software. The product does work fine with OS 5.0 you just need to get all the permissions set.
-
Inappropriate?I have QP free working when I reset manually, but it won't work at the scheduled time. Any ideas?
-
Inappropriate?As stated above...
I invite anyone having a difficulty with QuickPull (lite or Pro) to read the solution found at: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
It appears to be working for my Storm 9530 running OS v5.0.0.328. NOTE you must follow the instructions to the letter. My error was in editing Permissions instead of Default Permissions, All must be Allow. -
Inappropriate?Follow Todd's instructions to the very letter and you'll be fine. I had two failure installs until I read his post. Followed it TO THE VERY LETTER and my Storm just reset as it should.
Kudos Todd! -
Inappropriate?I am in the same boat as Larry except my free version of QP used to work with my BES settings and now it doesn't. My BES settings have not changed. My company is not going to allow permissions for this software. I am just wondering if QP will be 'restored' to the way it used work with my old permissions (or lack of) or am I just done with this program?
-
Shawn, maybe I didn't explain myself well. I was in the same situation, the free version of QP worked just fine with my BES settings and now it doesn't. So I thought that maybe upgrading to Pro would help. What I am not sure of is when all this happened. I think it all happened with the advent of OS 5.0. That changed things, and now QP and also Meter Berry don't work because of the permission settings. I am not sure that anything changed except 5.0. My company didn't change their requirements. In fact, someone with a S2 had different settings than me. So it must be with incompatibilities with 5.0. -
Inappropriate?Hello there,
Todd, thank you for your helpful input. Larry/Shawn, right now, a requirement for QuickPull for OS 5 is no association with a BES/IT Policy: see this FAQ under requirements: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
We're actively working on the next QuickPull for OS 5 where we hope to lessen the required permission and enable support for BES managed devices. Thank you again for your feedback. -
Joey, thanks. I appreciate your reply. Hopefully the next version will solve this issue. Or, better yet, maybe I'll upgrade to the S2 which doesn't seem to have the same problems for some odd reason (at least here at my company). In the meantime, do you have an anticipated date for the next QP release? Again, thanks. -
I too thank you Joey. -
Inappropriate?Nope - doesn't work...
I deleted QP, pulled the battery
Went to Options>applications>menu and "edit permissions"
I Edited permissions to allow then Menu>set as defaults>Yes
(and yes, I later did it again with "edit default permissions" - but the original directions said nothing about doing the "default permissions" for this step - just "permissions" - and I got the same result)
Then, I re-installed QP
Went to Options>Applications>menu> edit default permissions>
I set all to allow. then menu>save
I then pulled the Battery.
I went to do a reset: the 5 sec. warning was on for 5 minutes. Still nothing happened. I "escaped" and then my phone went bonkers!
So, I manually pulled the battery, and when it came back up got a thank you for using Quickpull! LOL!!
I tried various iterations of this... to no avail...
OK, so am I missing something here?
Thanks

Deb, read your commment on my BB Storm and was going to reply as I saw right away what your issue is, but decided to wait till I could get to my computer to reply. Here is the problem. When you say you deleted QP, then pulled the battery and then went to Options.Applications, and then Edit Permissions....no need to do that. Go to http://tinyurl.com/ykwgnkk from your BB and when it says Download or Edit Permissions, this is where you want to edit those permissions before you download. Once you set ALL to ALLOW, then download. After you download and install, recheck those permissions and then hit the menu button and Save as Default. Pull the battery and reboot. Now, QP should work just fine. Please let me know. -
Todd, Thank you for clarifying the directions. It was really helpful. See, I am new to this BB world. I've done the procedure on 2 different BBs (family plan, you know) and for us luddites out there, it's important to be really specific when writing directions. Here are the steps as I understand them. For QP Free version:
If you have QP already installed, delete it, then pull the battery.
Then, go to step one. If not, go right to step one
1. Go to http://tinyurl.com/ykwgnkk
2. check the box "set application permissions" then press "download"
3. Set all of the permissions to "allow" then press "menu" > "save"
4. QP then downloads
5. Then, press "options" > "applications" > and click on QP.
6. QP comes up and you want to press "edit permissions"
7. Make sure all permissions are set to "allow"
8. Press "menu" > "set as default"
9. Then pull the battery.
Thanks again, Todd. Very helpful!! -
Inappropriate? This Blackberry thing is such a toy.....I am supposed to be happy that an application actually worked!! Can you imagine? Things like applications are supposed to work and the surprise should only occur if they don't. This is the real world and the number of posts about how to install and run a simple application-that shouldn't be needed to begin with-is just hilarious!
I am glad to be able to read over the posts in the forum though as there is so much to learn.
Wonder why RIM went through so much for version 5 but could or did not deal with the memory problem--of course they could also have dealt with the lousy performance but did not do that either. Side by Side with the hated iPhone there is no comparison. Too bad as Apple is a no-no for me.
Whew! Now for a couple of cold ones. -
Pass the cold ones over here, Joe. :) QP works like a charm on prior OSs. Did you read the post by Zaventh http://feedback.steelthorn.com/steelt... ....We are still trying to work with them on the issue with OS 5, hopefully soon cause not only do we want you guys to be 100% satisfied, I'm itching to get that Bold2. ;) -

Inappropriate? Is there a timeline on when Quickpull will have a work around for BES users? I am a BES user and my IT folks will not change the timer permission so I can use Quickpull.
-
Inappropriate?Hey, I've been enjoying my Cold Beers for the last few days. Been loving it! Now, can I get a remote Tech Support Position please......
-
Inappropriate?Holy smokes, why does that have to be so damn difficult?
I finally think I got it after about 20 attempts!! -
Inappropriate? When is the fix expected to allow this to work on a BES device? I can't imagine why anyone would write an app that doesn't work on a BES-enabled blackberry. Isn't that the norm? Why would anyone use a BB Storm without using BES? Seems like a waste.
Is there an ETA for a fix? -
Inappropriate? If this issue isn't going to be fixed I would like a refund of the purchase price for Quick Pull Pro. I am not in a position to talk to my BES adminstrator, they are in Italy and don't speak English.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree with jamadams. I did talk to my BES administrator and he can figure out the issue either. Other apps that seem to have this issue resolved them just fine including meterberry.
-
Inappropriate?Has Meterberry fixed it? I bought and tried them this morning and have the same exact problem, the one permission about the security timer reset is grayed out and I can't change it.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Correction, I uninstalled and reinstalled Meterberry and it seems to have worked this time around.
-
Inappropriate? We still need either further assistance or another upgrade.
Upon upgrading my Storm to Operating System 5.0, I have also been trying to upgrade quickpull to 3.6.0 following your instructions to set all permission to "allow" and doing a battery pull. The app only worked once or twice and then shuts down. The following question come up: "would you like to grant Quickpulllib trusted application status" I choose yes, then I get, "Something went wrong. Aborting. See device log for more details". I went to the Event Log which states the followng: Name-System; Severity-Always Logged; GUID-97c9f5f641d25e5f; JVM:INFOp=304962e8,a='5.o.o.328',o='4.2.0.128',h=4001404.
Hope this info helps.
Also I even tried deleting v3 and doing a clean install with 3.6 same affect. Please advise. Thank you.
I’m frustrated
-
I am having the same problem - I've tried the same solutions and cannot get v3.6.0 to work on my Verizon 9530 with v5.0.0.328. Previously the OP Pro worked wonderfully, but I have reinstalled, deleted, did a battery pull at each step before and after the edit permissions. The QP just will not work with the combination of upgrades. -
Inappropriate?QP free still refuses to reset my BB as scheduled. It works fine when I manually reset. I believe my instatllation is good and my permissions are all set to allow. Any ideas? Thanks.
-
Inappropriate? Here are 2 things to troubleshoot:
1. I signed up for Verizon's unlimited data - they put me on BES (Blackberry Enterprise System) instead. So they may have done the same thing to you. QP doesn't seem to work well with BES. I don't have BES, so am not an expert on what needs to be done there... But if you don't have BES, make sure that really is the case on your phone.
2. I followed Todd's instructions to a T and it still didn't work. So I specifically outlined what I did... He pointed out my problem. It wasn't just re-setting permissions and when - it was where (the pathway taken) you did it: during the download process by following the specific URL and then again after. Scroll to my step by step that worked (not the one I ran by Todd) and try again. Please note that when I did these steps, I had completely gotten QP off my phone, did a manual battery pull, THEN followed the steps. Also, note that there is a different URL for the paid version. My steps are for QP free. I did them on 2 different BBs and it worked both times.
Hope this helps. -
Thanks, but I am not on BES and I am using the Quik Pull Pro version. I have followed the same steps including removing and reinstalling several times. I cannot get it to work even manually. -
Inappropriate? If you are on BES, try Meterberry. I had a bit of trouble getting it to work but then it started working and has kept working flawlessly. Quick Pull has been uninstalled.
-
Thanks. I do not have BES but I may try Meterberry. -
Inappropriate?Okay.....let me say something positive here. I just switched today from BB Storm 1 to my new BB Storm 2 today. Did the transfer of data for all my 3rd party software including QP and all I had to do was Agree to their TOS and just setup my threshold and daily reboot time again. All worked GREAT! By, the way on the BB2 the Firmware is 5.0.0.320 just in case anybody wanted to know.
Sorry, I've been out of the forum for a few days and need to get back to answering or helping out here when it comes to QP. It does work, and truthfully it's just a matter of getting some more DETAILED instructions. Maybe I could make a video and put it on YouTube......:)
FYI....if you get put on BES service by VSW....it would not mess up or control anything with QP software. It just tells VSW that you'll be using a BES server from either your company or A Company to access your work/business email. IT's THAT company that gives you access to their BES Server who know takes control and handles the permissions on your BB device. Hope that's explains it better to everyone.
As you can see from others post,....when done correctly and you go back and re-read the instructions we stated....QP does work on Both BBStorm1 and BB2.
Will keep monitoring the forum.
Todd
-
Inappropriate?"The company marked this question as answered." but it still doesn't work. I might even buy the full version if they can get this one to work properly.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? It may be "Closed Out" but even Crackberry.com shows it as not compatible with Storm 2. Gee, what a surprise!!
-
Inappropriate?I have purchased the Pro version twice now, thinking that I had done something wrong in downloading the software. I have tried numerous times to utilize the software and still it does not work. I have followed the forum and everyone's comments and followed their suggestions as well, all to no avail. The problem is not solved and I would appreciate a notification as to when it is.
I’m not happy at all.
-
Inappropriate?Funny....QP is working just fine on my BB Storm2....so Crackberry is on Crack!
Again, QP works just fine on firmware version 5 on both Storm models. If it's not working then its more then likely one of 3 things.
Instructions as given were not followed to a "T".
BB is on a BES server and controls are in place by the Admin.
Very possible to have another piece of software conflicting with QP, but so far I'm unaware of any, but it is possible.
There have been plenty of users..who have stated including myself....that jump to conclusions and thought QP did not work with version 5 firmware and after following instructions again to a "T"....QP worked just fine. It does work. -
Inappropriate? The newest release (2 days ago?) does work just fine. The one before that didn't. It may have worked for you and some others but it didn't work for everybody. If it had they wouldn't have released the fix. Don't assume that because you didn't follow the directions that everyone else didn't either.
-
Inappropriate?I'm going to leave this one up to Joey or Kara to answer. I can't seem to find a log that shows updated versions. Be nice to see what changes/fixes have happened from 3.6.0 to 3.6.4 this way people will know.
Jim, I'm still going to bet that the latest release had NOTHING to do with it, because it's worked just fine on my BB Storm1 and my BB Storm2. Plus, I've loaded it up on 2 other Storms with no problem or issues.
Joey/Kara.........? -
Inappropriate?I don't know Todd. I've never been able to get QP working on my storm. This new release I just installed it and it worked. I didn't have to do anything special. There are clearly two camps. People who it worked for and people who it didn't work for. It seems pretty evident that they did something.
-
Inappropriate?I agree Jim. I tried again today to download and install QP, and sure enough, even with the permissions exactly the same as they always have been, now QP works. They did something. Haven't tried the scheduler, but at least QP did work.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Hi Everyone,
It's great to read Beta 2 is working much better for everyone. Yes, the new Beta 2 build does not require the "default permission" changes Beta 1 required. This reduces the complexity of the installation steps. This also means Beta 2 should work better with devices managed by a BES.
When I asked, our developer calls the changes "magic". I think that's just the short answer for lines and lines of Java code!
If you have any comments after installing Beta 2, please let us know here: http://feedback.steelthorn.com/steelt...
Thanks so much for your support!
I’m happy
-
I installed the beta on 11/20, shows ver 3.6.4 as being installed. Is that b1 or b2? -
Inappropriate?I've been using 3.6.4 for a few days now and it seems to be working just fine. Thanks to all for your input and thanks for getting this app working.
I’m thankful and happy
-
Inappropriate?I have done everything that was suggested to correct the Quickpull softwared on my Blackberry Storm - latest software on my phone - nothing works - will not reboot. I am pretty disgusted.......Have the pro version - bought it twice.....Any suggestions would be appreciated.......
-
Inappropriate?I've tried this solution and now am being asked to provide my registration code. When I try to get my registration code sent to me I receive absolutely nothing from the site. I am about to give up on this program and tell everyone I know not to bother if they have the new OS version on their Storm!!!
-
Inappropriate?Well, I keep dl and deleting. Cannot get pasr the EUA screen which will not scroll and freezes the my BBStorm. Any ideas?
-
Inappropriate?I cannot auto run QP pro. QP free ran without prompts QP pro now needs manual input to run, so there is no point in seeting a time for auto run if you have to manually check the prompt box.
I have followed the instructions to the letter downloaded again and set permissions, makes no difference. I see no point in setting an auto steting if I need to click prompts.
